The Valley Private Hospital in Melbourne, Australia, has recently undergone a major transformation and expansion. It increased its bed count, invested heavily in new technologies, and installed six conventional ORs, two cath labs, and a Hybrid OR. The hospital partnered with ww5 and Siemens Healthineers for this undertaking.
The Hybrid OR features a Maquet Magnus operating table synchronized with the with the Siemens Artis zeego angiography system. ww5 also supplied modular ww5 IN2 wall and ceiling elements, OR Integration Maquet Tegris, Maquet PowerLED surgical lights, and surgical and anaesthetic pendants specially adapted to fit the Siemens display. What’s more, the room features the world’s first installation of the Maquet Magnus table and the Siemens Artis zeego imaging system – the trailblazer for what is now a popular choice.
Solutions for challenging situations
ww5 was involved from the design through the planning stages of the project, helping to create a state-of-the-art hybrid operating room within a limited space. Other challenges included providing storage for the heart lung machine and other peripheral equipment, and organizing building work around the hospital’s day-to-day operations.
The Hybrid OR is used for multiple disciplines, including vascular and cardiac interventions, vascular surgery, neurosurgery, electrophysiology studies, and orthopedic and neurospinal image-guided surgery.
